Brisbane Motorway Services has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Business Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2022. The Australian Business Award for Business Innovation [BIA] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to business innovation.

“Working in a high speed, high risk, open road motorway environment requires innovative ways to reduce exposure to hazards and lower your operational risk profile. We at BMS are very grateful to be recognised for the investment we have made into delivering innovative products to reduce manual handling, improve situational awareness and isolate operators in high-risk work zones. From autonomous recovery devices for broken down vehicles to new road safety symbols we are creating a visual canvas of safety initiatives. The Australian Business Awards is a great forum to showcase our talents.”

Brett Simpson, Road Operations Manager, Brisbane Motorway Services

Brisbane Motorway Services is a disruptor in the Traffic Incident Management Service (TIMS) industry and maintains motorways in such a way that they are statistically one of the safest travel routes in Australia.

As part of their core service delivery, BMS staff must work in a high-risk, high-speed motorway environment and through a suite of impressive road safety innovations seeks to maintain a high level of visibility on the road, eliminate manual handling tasks where they can during vehicle recovery operations and remove operators from working in and around high-risk work zones.

BMS acknowledges that successful innovation allows you to add value to your business so that you can increase your industry reputation, leave a maintainable and sustainable legacy and improve your bottom line. In recent years BMS has implemented a total of eight different road safety initiatives. The most recent being Project Aardvark. This latest innovation is an autonomous recovery device for vehicles that are broken down or left abandoned on the side of the motorway.

A world first, this international patented innovation is set to revolutionise several different industries including the towing industry. Conceived theoretically during a risk review and now designed and manufactured into a tangible product BMS is excited to reveal the results of three years of arduous project management.

Project Aardvark is just the most recent example of BMS being industry leaders in innovation not imitation.
